How much does it cost to use Splash?
Guests pay for kWh charged at the host's rate, with £1.50 platform fee and 2% service fee per session. For hosts, Splash takes a 10% platform fee on earnings, but right now we're running at 0% fees for everyone to encourage more sharing. Join early and share for free!
Are my EV charger & energy tariff compatible?
Your charger needs to support OCPP 1.6 protocol—most modern smart chargers do. If you have a fixed EV tariff with set cheaper hours daily, our scheduled charging works perfectly for hosts. We don’t support smart tariffs in-app yet (e.g. Octopus Intelligent Go where cheap hours change daily), but chat to us on WhatsApp and we’ll guide you to make it work!
How do I get started as a host or guest?
Guests can simply download the Splash app and search for nearby chargers to get started. For hosts ready to start sharing, message us on WhatsApp and we'll guide you through setup in less than 10 min — Host onboarding page is coming soon to make joining even smoother.
What if something goes wrong during a session?
We're live on WhatsApp 8am-6pm every day for support. While our team is small, we do our best to respond outside these hours too (it might just take a bit longer). For anything email, we promise to follow up within 12 hours, and whether it's a charger issue, booking problem, or dispute, we'll work with both parties to find a fair solution.
How do payments and earnings work?
Guests pay when booking based on estimated usage, but are only charged for actual kWh consumed at session end. Hosts receive earnings immediately after each completed session and can withdraw money after 3 business days due to banking regulations. Every transaction can be tracked in-app.
